Two Latest Websites Go Live

July 16th, 2007

I’m pleased to announce the launch of DW Web Solutions’ two latest projects.

Bodywise Nutrition in Murfreesboro, TN offers a wide array of weight loss, protein, vitamins and other products for overall health and wellness.

In this site, we combined information regarding their “brick and mortar” store with the capability of selling their different product lines online taking advantage of the Paypal shopping cart.

Our second launch announcement is the new website of Shadow Run LLC, a world class saddleseat riding facility in Nicholasville, KY.

It’s still a pleasure to work on these equestrian websites. It’s a great to be able to learn more about different disciplines and check out everybody else’s horses while at the same time supporting mine!

It’s an exciting time for DW Web Solutions! We’re expecting several more sites to launch this week!

April 8th, 2007

Yep, here’s another new DW Web Solutions site launch! I’m happy to announce that our latest horse related website design is now up and running!

Pauma Valley Equestrian Center in Valley Center, CA needed a website to showcase their beautiful facility as well as both its resident training programs: Angie Taylor Dressage and Heggelund Training.

I’m really grateful to Angie Taylor for allowing me to add another “horsey” site to my portfolio because working on these equestrian sites is still more fun than work for me!

New Year’s Resolutions Time

January 2nd, 2007

Well, if you check out the date of my last post, I guess you could assume that tops on my list is stop making excuses and BLOG MORE!

But that aside, I came across an interesting list of resolutions for webmasters from the Small Business Software Blog.

My favorites on the list were:

2. Update Copyright Notices
Make an effort to update the copyright notice on your website. A current date will reassure customers that your online storefront is active.

3. Update Meta Tags
Each and every web page on a website should contain a unique title and description. Update and optimize meta tags to avoid excessive use of keywords. Meta tags should be accurate and concise without redundancy and recurring words.

4. House Cleaning
Update old links and remove any links that are no longer valid. HTML is a markup language and without constant maintenance it is easy to have a page with an unclosed tag. While some web browsers make allowances for poorly formed HTML, it is important to realize that not all do. Therefore, it is crucial that you take a look at the HTML behind the web page and make sure that it is properly formed.

There are some great ideas on their list.  These three are going to join my priorities list just under blog more and probably a bit above get more than 3 or 4 hours of sleep a night…who needs sleep anyway!

Everybody’s doing it

November 4th, 2006

In case you haven’t heard, the internet reached the 100 million mark last month according to the Netcraft Web Server Survey.  According to the report, over 3.5 million sites were added in October 2006 alone.  The report also notes that this www boom is in large part due to Small Businesses and blogs.

All Hail GoogleBot

October 31st, 2006

No way! I do not claim to be an expert in the field of SEO. I read enough about it, and I try to keep up with my blogging and my article writing and I’ve seen modest success with those tactics on my virtual assistant site.

But I have to give myself a little shout out here…

DW Web Solutions my web design site, home of this blog was officially launched on Saturday.  I have put quite a bit of work in there. I was hoping for a few pages to be indexed on MSN sometime this week…they always seem to be the first at that! But you know, I wasn’t expecting much.

Imagine my surprise this morning to find that 2 pages of that site have been indexed by the big G! I know that the seasoned pros at marketing and SEO probably would not be impressed, but I am extremely pleased.  Enough to write this blog for the sole purpose of recording this moment!

Who knows when the rest will be indexed or even if those pages will stick around right now, but I’m certainly motivated now.

So to you seasoned pros and fellow SEO soldiers, how long does initial indexing usually take?  Does anyone else get this ridiculously excited about these things?

Great Free Analytic Tool

October 31st, 2006

My thanks to Tyic.com for introducing me to Sitescore.  It’s a great free tool that gives your feedback on the marketing, design, accessibility, experience and user ratings for any given site.  Taking all of those elements into consideration, they then give you an overall rating 1-10.
I have not spent a great deal of time over there yet.  But just in playing with the home page of my web design site, DW Web Solutions.  I’m feeling pretty good!  Other than our huge lacking in backlinks and popularity…which I don’t take personally as the site has only been live for 5 days…I’m fairly happen with their opinion!  Yes, that’s right I’m proud of my 6.6 :)
