Ever stop and wonder who owned your domains before you? Honestly, I hadn’t until I ran across Does Your Domain Have Skeletons in Its Closet from Char at Essential Keystrokes.

I’d heard about the Wayback Machine in passing, but never really thought about the possible negative consequences of not knowing the history of your new site’s home. Since it seems like there’s a new “adult” site every turn you take or every spam e-mail you get, it doesn’t seem too far fetched to assume that you could unknowingly be the victim of your domain’s past lives.

Thankfully, this doesn’t seem to have affected any of my domains or those of my clients thus far, but I will definitely add this to my pre-domain purchase checklist!
